I carried evening lilac to you

Imbedded by my forebears

Flooded by honeyed showers

You will envelop me as in a dream

The fleeting and the volatile come to life

The lilac blossom holds no tears.

White flashes in azure enter water deep.

A bird with no branch cries in a blue haze.

A tide of weeping violets will cover it-

And the chime of crystals falls on petals.

The young - in azure? In dreams? In a wash of wings?

A more astringent smell. A distant glow sings.

Dream skywards of eyes light as Parnassus' grass at a secret funeral feast

Rise high in flight from waves across black moudflats!

White feathered young will fly from new young water

And turn into churches on these shores!

Your sharp clean scent of jasmine numbs me still

Eyes' greeting lies on morning silence

With green scattering of wandering lights,

Above the hay, above the stars

In a blue song - a boat without oars.

Insistent crickets cannot be silenced

When the first night-scented stocks surge forth -

Sleep meanders on your face

Finds no return - so warmly do

Gardens and fields grow through us in these showers -

With you I will not sleep till dawn.

The garden run to seed flies off.

Only we blossom towards evening.

On bright faces - escapes to the sun.

On embraces - silent falling stars.

After deaths, after flights and passing years -

Silence kept in stork's whiteness

And far off rivers of promise,

And in the eyes - a high-yearning bird.

Late grapes have fallen everywhere.

First nights beneath a covering of stars.

Dreams float from sea to sea.

The garden does not look back.

Dmytro O. Chystiak is a Ukrainian-speaking and French-speaking poet, short story writer, literary critic, university scholar and journalist. He is Professor of Translation Studies at the National Taras Shevchenko Kyiv University, PhD (after a thesis on ancient myths in Maeterlinck's dramas, preparing a Doctor Habilitatis thesis in comparative, French and Ukrainian textual linguistics), literary translator, head of the department of literary and scientific review Mova ta istoria, director of literary collection "European Academy" in "Sammit-Knyga" publisher house in Ukraine and director of the collection "European Letters" in "L'Harmattan" publishing house in Paris as well as the adviser of a few French and Belgian publishers. He published more then 50 books (philological works, poetry, short stories, essays, literary translations) that brought him some national and international prizes in Ukraine (Prize of the Ukrainian Government, 2012; Prize of the Kyiv administration, 2016, International Gogol Prize, 2013), France (International Prize for young authors, PIJA, in 2008), Belgium (Kraainem Prize for novella in 2009), Germany (Prize Oles Honchar in 2008), Kosovo (Skanderbeu Prize, 2018), Romania (Mihai Eminescu Prize, 2017) etc. He translated a lot of Belgian, Swiss, Canadian, but also Italian, Montenegrin, Russian-speaking, Slovenian, Greek, Bulgarian and other authors (Maeterlinck, Yourcenar, Bonnefoy, Perrier, Perovič etc.) that brought him the Prize for translation by the Federation Wallonia-Brussels for the "diffusion of Belgian literature abroad" (2012) and the most important translation prize in Ukraine, Maxym Rylskyi Prize (2013). He also translated about 50 writers into French. Dmytro Chystiak has more then 350 publications (scientific articles, literary critics, poetry, prose, translations) in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Macedonia, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey and other countries. Member of the Direction of National Union of Writers of Ukraine (Kyiv city section), of the European Association of Journalists, of the Eurasian Union of Writers, of the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education of Ukraine and Honorary member of the French-speaking branch of PEN-club of Belgium,. He is also Member of the Direction and the International Responsible for Letters of the European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters (Paris) founded by the French Senate and UNESCO.

ディミトロ・チスティアク（ウクライナ）

ディミトロ・チスティアクはウクライナ語、フランス語を話す詩人、短編小説作家、文学評論、大学教職およびジャーナリストである。国立キエフ大学翻訳研究教授である。同大学でフランス語・ウクライナ語の言語学的研究で博士号を授与。文学評論家であり、文学部長であり、科学評論の主宰でもある。文学選集「ヨーロッパアカデミー」のディレクターでもある。著者は５０冊以上（言語学、詩、短編小説）があり、国内・国際賞を多数受賞している。２０１２年・２０１３・２０１６年にウクライナ政府より国際ゴーゴリ賞等を受ける。ベルギー、ドイツ、コソボ、ルーマニア（２０１７年、ミハイ・エミネスク賞）を受ける。多くの翻訳もしており、翻訳賞も多数受賞している。彼の作品は１９カ国以上で出版されている。ウクライナ作家協会会員、ヨーロッパジャーナリスト協会会員、ユーラシア作家同盟、ウクライナ高等教育科学アカデミー、ベルギーペンクラブフランス語名誉会員。またフランス上院及びユネスコが創立したヨーロッパ科学芸術文化アカデミー（パリ）の国際理事でもある。
