詩人、大阪生まれ。

所属団体：日本ペンクラブ会員、日本国際詩人協会、日本児童文学者協会、詩と童話「このて」同人誌代表、創作童謡の会「黄金のあみ」設立会員。２１世紀創作歌曲まほろば会員、与謝野晶子研究会代表。1973年より現在まで「このて」や育成活動において多くの詩人、朗読者を送りだしている。朗読文化　関西レインボウ代表、「このて」名作散歩の会代表。京都地名委員会会員、京都生涯教育研究所会員。

著書：詩集「シエナの始源」リトルガリヴァ－社、「下田喜久美詩選集」、「あし草に光る雲の峰」てらいんく社「スタートの朝」らくだ出版など１８冊。教科書副読本に多数採用される。

日英バイリンガル詩集「果樹園」（2013)「下田喜久美の詩による歌曲集」(2013)

「星の二重奏」(2015)　日本国際詩人協会発行。「寒は光の種を蒔く-クレリア・イフリム詩集」(2018)編集。日英バイリンガル詩集「雪の二重奏」(2016）ピーア・タフドロプ（デンマーク）、「誓の二重奏」(2018)クレリア・イフリム（ルーマニア）、「果（さくか）の二重奏」(2019)ユーリ・タルヴェット（エストニア）、「栄の二重奏」(2020)　ディミトロ・チスティアク（ウクライナ）を出版。

作品は教科書副読本に１６編、アンソロジーに多数採用される。ルーマニアで２冊出版（１冊はアンソロジーに掲載・書影参照）また、ＦＭ大阪、ＮＨＫにて放送
