Still pursued by very ancient stories
from place to place through the streets
going up staircases and ringing
bells that cover up the shouts
of those being tortured not to reveal
the confidentiality of correspondence
on which postage seals bleed
having poured sealing wax on their lips
these offspring of the tribe of mail-carriers
who are restlessly engaged in this relay
of a hand to hand single letter
going round the world to reach
its recipient who is also the sender
before landscapes on stamps
have time to change seasons

まだ、遥かな古代の物語に追われている
通りをぬけてあちこちに
階段を登りながら
封緘のりに唇をあてたら
郵便切手は血を流していた
通信の信頼を裏切れないと
拷問される彼らのの叫びを
覆う鐘を鳴らしながら
郵便配達人の子孫よ
この継承にいそいそと誰が従事する
たった一つの手紙を次の配り手に
届く範囲でぞれぞれの世界を回る
送り手でもあるその受け手
切手の景色の前にあって
季節を変更する時間よあれ

Yiorgos Chouliaras was born in Thessaloniki, Greece and lived for many years in New York, Dublin, and other cities before returning to Athens. His books include Iconoclasm (1972), The Treasure of the Balkans (1988), Fast Food Classics (1992), Gramma (1995), Roads of Ink (2005) and Dictionary of Memories (2013), while his work has been translated into many languages and published in leading literary journals and international anthologies. Citing his innovative writing, the Academy of Athens awarded him the Ouranis Prize in 2014 for his work in its entirety.

ヨルゴス・チョリアラスはギリシャ・テッサロニキで生まれる。長らくニューヨーク、ダブリンや他都市に住み、現在はアテネに在住。
"his work in its entirety" においてコスタス＆エレーニ・オウラニ財団よりアテネ文学賞を受賞。チョリアラスは "alphabetical novel"、Dictionary of Memories (2013)の作者である。その前に詩集を何冊も出版している、そのなかには"conoclasm" [Image-Fighting] (1972), his first book, The Treasure of the Balkans (1988), Fast Food Classics (1992), Gramma [Letter] (1995),
and the retrospective volume Roads of Ink (2005), も含まれ文学、文化、歴史、国際関係についての多数のエッセイもギリシャ語と英語で発表している。様々な言語から英語に訳した翻訳作品は有名な全集、アンソロジーにも所収されている。

Poet, essayist, translator. Born in Kyoto (1952), Graduated from Ristumeikan University. Representative of Japan Universal Poets Association, Chief-in-editors of online international journal "Poetic-Bridge: Ama-Hashi".

Award: "Mina wo Tonaete" ("Uttering Her Name" by Gabriel Rosenstock) won the Translated Irish Literature Award by Ireland Literature Exchange in 2012. Milos Crnjanski Prize in International Literature Festival-Wien 2017, Naji Naaman Literary Prize (Honour) 2018

詩人、エッセイスト、翻訳家。１９５２年京都生れ。立命館大学文学部卒業。日本国際詩人協会代表。国際詩誌「詩の架け橋：天橋」編集主幹。翻訳: 国内外の現代詩人作品を翻訳。JUNPA BOOKS シリーズを手がける。『御名を唱えて』（原著 Gabriel Rosenstockの"Uttering Her Name")は２０１２年アイルランド文学交流協会より翻訳出版賞を受賞。『弾丸シュート』（原著Odveig Klyve の"Bullistic"は２０１９年ノルウェー文学普及協会（ＮＯＲＬＡ）より翻訳助成を下付される。
主な著書：『心薫る女』『夢紡ぐ女』『光織る女』『愛装ふ女』『地抱く男』（いずれも竹林館）２０１０年第４９回ストルーガ詩祭（ストルーガ、マケドニア）、２０１１年ヤン・スムレク国際文学祭（ブラティスラヴァ。スロバキア）、２０１５年コモ詩祭―Europa in Versi―（コモ、イタリア）、２０１５年ミハイ・エミネスク国際詩祭（クラヨバ、ルーマニア）、２０１９年プリマ・ヴィスタ国際文学祭に招待参加。
受賞歴：２０１７年セルビア、パンノニアン・ゲレブ詩祭出版賞を受賞。２０１８年オーストリア・ウィーン国際文学祭ミロシュ・ツルニャンスキー賞、ナジ・ナーマン文学賞（名誉賞）他受賞。
