Gifu-butterfly might be a messenger and tells of the spring coming. This butterfly was named after the first discovery in Gifu area where I live now. When the dog's-tooth violets bloom, the Gifu-butterflies surely come in the field. I can't find the right word to describe their beauty pausing for rest on the dog's-tooth violets.

Author's Profile:

She was born in Kyoto, Japan in 1944. Ikumi is her pseudonym. Poet, translator and researcher on R.H.Blyth and world haiku. She graduated from Doshisha University and gained her M.A & Ph.D. from Aichigakuin University. She started to write poem in her college years and studied haiku under Kaneko Tohta. She is a retired professor. She founded the writing English haiku group, "EVERGREEN" in 1988; was president of The Poetry Society of Japan(2010-2012). Contributor and coterie member of Kaigen (ex-Kaitei), Kinokai, Hikobae Haiku, Modern Haiku and Simply Haiku. She also the member of poetry group, Kyōen JUNPA and PRCT. She organized and promoted The Second Haiku Pacific Rim International Conference in Ogaki in 2004. As judge she has managed some haiku contests such as Oku no Hosomichi Haiku Contest in Ogaki and Ibaragi- Minneapolis Sister City Friendship Haiku Contest by Ibaragi city, Osaka for twenty years.

With Mr. Hirotaka Kawai, president of Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co., she has been collaborating Kawai Photo-Haiku Calendar since 2003.

From 2012 she has a page on "World Haiku & Senryu" on monthly magazine, Senryu To published in Osaka.

1944年京都市に生まれる。伊紅美をペンネームとして使うことがある。詩人、翻訳家、R.H.Blythおよび世界俳句の研究者。同志社大学卒業。愛知学院大学大学院で修士、博士課程を終える。文学博士。高校・大学時代より詩作をはじめる。金子兜太氏の俳句結社「海程」(現在、「海原」)同人。大学教員退職。1988年に英語俳句グループのEvergreenを創設。2010年から2年間、日本英詩協会会長を務める。「海原」、「木の会」、「ひこばえ」、Modern Haiku, Simply Haiku,などにメンバーとして投句。詩のグループ「饗宴」、「日本国際詩人協会（JUNPA)」、東京英詩朗読会（PRCT）会員。2004年第二回環太平洋ハイク大会（大垣）企画と実践。審査員：大垣舟下り英語ハイク大会、茨木市―ミネアポリス国際親善英語ハイク。河合楽器社長、河合弘隆氏とKawai Photo-Haikuカレンダー製作。

川柳結社『川柳塔』（大阪）に毎号、「世界の俳句、川柳、詩」を連載中。
