THE WORDS on the paper
are exchangeable for anything: you, we, us
a person´s life is quickly told
and a number is a number, Pythagoras said
a sybaritic cat is following
god knows how many times
hard on my heels
I throw the dice
to gain time I will have to lose it
you must peak through your eyes
even though it´s like hiding;
not talking is also speaking.
I do not stumble I fall
and this is just the beginning.
IS IT A PUNISHMENT or reminder
is it too late or too early
to wait for a revolution.
I read Lenin´s words:
There´s no one so deaf
as those who will not hear.
Who will refuse a kiss
and write oneself into the poem
as a punishment or reminder.
IT´S COSTLY to keep the world intact
but as long as we stand tall
the dark shall not draw us in
and flocks of starlings
arrive from all corners of the world.
Two squares together make a star
if we can keep a secret
and not sell out to anyone
then longing will deepen
when logic occurs.
THERE IS JUST AS MUCH LUST
in a brief period of time
as there is in infinite time
if the limits of lust are measured
by your thoughts
and there are certain events
I would rather forego
if the limits of thought are measured
by your lust
Can time stop
as long as lust remains
the way that love is lost
in hope and misunderstanding?
THE NEW SYSTEM
incorporates the brutality of the old
Is it truly possible to make a change?
What does it mean to occupy a space
and are you able to describe headstrong
To be defined is the worst.
We talk about people who are driven out

Hødnebø was born in Oslo in 1962,and is educated as philologist.
Hødnebø made her literary début in 1989 with Larm. She was a co-editor of the magazine Vagant from 1990 to 1997.[1] Literary historian Øystein Rottem compared her poetic style in her next collection, Mørkt kvadrat from 1994, with poets such as Rolf Jacobsen and Sigbjørn Obstfelder.[2] Later collections include Pendel (1997), Stormstigen (2002), Nedtegnelser (2007), and Nytte og utførte gjerninger (2016). She has also translated poetry by Emily Dickinson and Anne Carson into Norwegian language.
Hødnebø was awarded Sult-prisen [no] in 2003, and the Dobloug Prize in 2005.[1] She received Gyldendalprisen [no] in 2018 (for 2017).
