I draw a chair
and you sit down on it.
I mention the name of the sun
and your eyes blink.
I dream of a table
and you join me to eat.
I say the word water
and you rinse your mouth with it.
I think of something about love
and you smile at me.
I point to an unslept-in bed
and you suppress a yawn.
I shout something at the sky
and you unfold your wings.
I take a picture of you
and your eyes hold time tight.
I creep towards your sleeping body
and get caught in your breathing.
I read a book and on every page
the letters keep forming your name.
I tell day out loud about you
and you silently disappear into the night.
I conceal you in a dark landscape
and you turn into a river of light.
I look up at the moon
and it has your face.

WILLEM M. ROGGEMAN (Belgium)
This Flemish poet, born in Brussels, where he still lives, was called by an important critic "a painter with words". It is indeed painting which has had the most influence on his poetry. Roggeman was for some time a professional journalist and art critic at the Flemish newspaper "Het Laatste Nieuws" in Brussels. Was director of the Flemish Cultural Centre De Brakke Grond in Amsterdam from 1981 to 1993. He is writing poetry, novels, plays and essays about Dutch literature and Flemish painters. His work is translated in many countries.

Born in Ehime, 1972. She earned her Master of Arts from Sophia University, and then got the diploma of International business management (post graduate)with Honors from Niagara College and the certificate of TESOL from St. George International College in Canada. She has also translated several English works into Japanese, from Gabriel Rosenstock to Bill Wolak. She also has published in haiku magazines and her bilingual books like Duet of Fireflies.
