Love has never known death
I.
Open at four points
Of raw horizon
Bloodthreaded twine
Weaving the white sea
Beneath his green eyes
Which now behold
The unredeemable
In midst of the eternal
As if the moon no longer rises
Because elusively one moment
We rose deep
On its dark side

Stathis Gourgouris is a internationally awarded poet, translator, essayist, and sound artist. He teaches comparative literature at Columbia University in New York. He has published 4 books of poetry in Greek and 5 books of philosophy and criticism in English. He also writes often in newspapers and online media about matters of contemporary politics and culture. His work has been translated in French, German, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Serbian, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese and now Japanese. In December 2018, the pioneering electronic composer Lena Platonos premiered six new compositions based on poems from his Introduction to Physics (2005) commissioned by the Opera House in Thessaloniki. Maki Starfield
Born in Ehime, 1972. She earned her Master of Arts from Sophia University, and then got the diploma of International business management (post graduate)with Honors from Niagara College and the certificate of TESOL from St. George International College in Canada. She has also translated several English works into Japanese, from Gabriel Rosenstock to Bill Wolak. She also has published in haiku magazines and her bilingual books like Duet of Fireflies.
